Turbo Tag is built on a simple promise: we do not want your data.
Who we are
Turbo Tag is a mobile racing game made by an independent developer ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Turbo Tag app and this website, turbotag.app.
What we collect
No personal data. The game has no accounts and no sign-in. We do not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, photos, device identifiers or anything else that could identify you. The only things the game sends are the anonymous game statistics described below, which you can switch off, and two small files it reads from turbotag.app when it starts: one says which version is the newest, the other lists gifts from the Turbo Tag team. The game looks through the gift list on your device. Neither sends anything about you, and nothing is kept.
What stays on your device
Your progress (coins, gems, gears, trophies, stars, unlocked cars and cosmetics, and settings) is saved in a small file on your device. That file is never sent to us (the anonymous statistics below mention only your player level). The "Location" setting is a country you pick yourself; it is stored in that same file and used only to filter the leaderboard view on your device.
Moving to a new phone
Turbo Tag has no accounts and never sends your game save to us. That's on purpose: we don't want to collect anyone's data.
The compromise is that your progress lives on your device. So that you can keep it when you change phones, the game lets your device include it in its own backup: on Android the backup that belongs to your Google account, on an iPhone or iPad your iCloud or computer backup. We can't see that backup, we can't open it, and nothing in it is sent to us.
- If backup is turned on in your phone's settings, Android backs up the game on its own, usually overnight while your phone is charging and on Wi-Fi.
- When you set up a new Android phone from that backup (or copy your old phone across during setup), or reinstall Turbo Tag on the same Google account, your progress comes back. Anything played since the last backup may not be included.
- It works from Android to Android only. It can't move progress to or from an iPhone.
- Don't want it? Turn off backup in your phone's Settings (usually under Google or System, then Backup). Your progress will then stay only on that phone.
On an iPhone or iPad:
- If iCloud Backup is on, your device backs up the game with everything else, usually overnight while it is charging and on Wi-Fi. A backup to your Mac or PC works the same way.
- When you set up a new iPhone or iPad from that backup, your progress comes back. Anything played since the last backup may not be included.
- It works from Apple device to Apple device only. It can't move progress to or from an Android phone.
- Don't want it? Turn off iCloud Backup, or leave Turbo Tag out of it, in your device's Settings.
Game statistics
To learn which modes, arenas and levels players enjoy, and where the game is too hard or confusing, the game sends anonymous statistics about the game itself. For example: "a Tag Bomb match on the Funfair ended, 2nd of 4, after 94 seconds", "the Bundles tab in the store was opened" or "tutorial lesson 3 finished".
With them go only the game version, whether the device is Android or Apple, your player level, and roughly how many days ago this copy of the game started sending statistics.
They never include your name, your player ID, an email address, your location, your contacts or any device or advertising identifier. Each day's statistics carry a random code that the game makes that day and replaces the next day. That shows how many people played on a day without following anyone from one day to the next. Because nothing in them points to you, we can't pick out which statistics were yours.
They are sent to PostHog, an analytics service, and stored in the European Union. PostHog is set to throw away the internet address the statistics arrive from and not to work out any location. We use the statistics only to make the game better. We never sell them and never use them for advertising. Apart from the services that store and read them for us, we never share them with anyone. They are deleted after one year.
Don't want to send them? Turn off "Share game stats" in Settings. Nothing more is sent from then on.
Notifications
If you turn notifications on, they are scheduled by the game on your device. Nothing is sent to us.
Purchases
Any in-game purchases are handled by Google Play (or the Apple App Store). The store processes the payment and keeps the receipt; we never see your card or billing details. Parents can require approval for purchases in the store's family settings.
Gifts
If you write to us and share your player ID (for example about a purchase that never arrived), we may send a gift to that ID. The public gift list never shows player IDs, only a scrambled code made from them that cannot be turned back into the ID. The gift arrives in your Inbox the next time you open the game.
Advertising
This version of Turbo Tag shows no adverts and includes no advertising software. If optional "watch an ad for a reward" features are added, they will use an advertising service approved for family audiences, and this policy will be updated before that version is released.
Children
Turbo Tag is designed to be safe for children. There is no chat and no way for players to contact each other. The game statistics hold nothing that identifies a player, so there is nothing to share, sell or profile.
This website
turbotag.app uses no cookies, no analytics and no tracking. The font is served from this site itself. Like any website, the hosting provider (Cloudflare) handles your connection and may keep standard technical logs to keep the site secure and running.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear in the game and on this page, with the date of the change.
